Housebuilder Bellway has donated £500 to West Wirral Amateur Boxing Club.
With its beautiful Jellicoe Gardens development located on Pasture Road in Moreton, close to the boxing gym on Barnston Lane, the residential developer was keen to support the amateur club with a monetary donation.
The cash will be used by the club to purchase much needed new equipment for both the boxing studio and the gym including punchbags, boxing gloves and conditioning kit, all of which will help deliver a better training and competing experience for local boys and girls.
Secretary and trustee Ray Aistrop runs West Wirral Amateur Boxing Club, along with the Club’s volunteers, and invited Bellway sales advisor Joanne Dempsey along one evening to see the children in action.
He said: “Our club is an integral part of the local community in Moreton, not far from the new Bellway development and we welcome boys and girls from right across the local area. The donation from Bellway will be put to good use replacing some of our old equipment and also purchasing new kit which we know will make a significant difference to our overall training programmes.”

Established more than 40 years ago, West Wirral Amateur Boxing Club is open five days a week and has more than 70 members between the ages of nine and 25 from Moreton and the surrounding areas. It is now so popular, interested new members are added to a waiting list.
