Manchester business selected for trade mission to Thailand and Indonesia

Lee Ali, MD of Expo Stars

Manchester-based global exhibition company Expo Stars, has been selected as one of 20 businesses to go on a tour organised by the Department for International Trade, which will take the Northern Powerhouse businesses to visit businesses in Thailand and Indonesia.

Lee Ali, MD of Expo Stars will use the opportunity later this month to meet with businesses in Thailand and Indonesia to research potential growth and client opportunities for his company, which focuses on face-to-face, live and experiential marketing.

The trade mission to the South East Asian countries is for businesses that are experienced in exporting and based in the Northern Powerhouse (NPH) region. The mission offers a great opportunity to explore new markets in education, infrastructure, transportation and services. The visit will coincide with activities ahead of the ASEAN Thailand 2019 conference to maximise opportunities for NPH businesses.

Lee Ali said: “I’m really looking forward to visiting Thailand and Indonesia as part of the trade mission. South East Asia countries present significant opportunities for UK companies, with 17.6 per cent of all ASEAN’s EU trade in goods and services currently with the UK. At Expo Stars, 70 per cent of our business comes from overseas with around 5 per cent specifically in Asia. We’ve identified the region as a key area for growth for us over the coming years, which is why this visit will be particularly important for us.”

The tour starts on 25 October 2019.
